KETCHIKAN, Alaska, Jan. 7, 2025 — Interested individuals and businesses can begin submitting proposals next week to provide guided big game hunting services in select areas of the Tongass National Forest.

The prospectus (an announcement soliciting competitive applications) will be available online Jan. 15 for submission of proposals through Feb. 28 at the Tongass National Forest Outfitting and Guiding webpage, see “Current Advertisements”.

The Forest Service will host a virtual open house on Jan. 23, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (AKST), to provide a brief overview of the application process. Interested parties can email tnfbiggame@usda.gov for a meeting invitation.

Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to provide visitors with safe and high-quality hunting experiences; promote enjoyment, understanding, and appreciation of the Tongass; and minimize impacts to resources and other forest users.
