There are around 600 miles of snowmobile trail through the forest.
Snowmobiling
The trails are groomed by several different partner organizations. Digital maps for the trails are available on the Michigan DNR's website. Trail condition reports can be found on the Michigan Snowmobile Association's website, updates are regularly provided by the clubs that groom the trails.
There are around 267 miles of trails on the Huron Zone of the Huron-Manistee National Forests.
- Alcona County Trail - This trail system is located within Alcona Co. There is one Forest Service-operated trailhead for this trail. The trail is 45 miles long and links to both the Iosco and Oscoda County snowmobile trails in the winter.
- Iosco County Snowmobile Trail - this trail is located in Iosco County and has four Forest Service-operated trailheads. This trail links to the Alcona County Trail.
- Ogemaw County Snowmobile Trail - this trail travels east to west, starting at the Iosco County line.
- Oscoda County Snowmobile Trail - this trail is located within Oscoda County and connects to the Alcona County Trail.
There are 332 miles of snowmobile trail on the Manistee Zone of the Huron-Manistee National Forests. Honeymoon Lake, Newaygo, Oceana and Ward Hills are towards the southern end of the Manistee Zone, while the remaining trails are towards the northern section of the zone.
