Rangeland and Grazing
The Salmon-Challis National Forest has one of the largest rangeland management programs in the Intermountain West, administering grazing permits for more than 100 livestock grazing permittees. Ranching, and the role that public lands grazing plays for area ranchers, has contributed to the social, cultural, and economic stability of the forest’s neighboring communities.
