Thloko Okhussee (Big Pond)

Okhussee Thloko (big pond) is located along Macon County Road 54 (Vaughn Mill Road).  It provides anglers with the opportunity to catch largemouth bass, catfish and bream. Thloko along with the Chutkee pond is four and two acres, respectively, and anglers are restricted to bank fishing. Another type of fishing is available in the Uphapee and Choctafaula Creeks. A valid fishing license is required.

Directions

Coming from Montgomery

  • Take 85N towards Atlanta for about 40 miles 
  • Take Exit 42 AL-186E/Wire Road 
  • Turn Right onto AL-186E for about 1 mile 
  • Turn Left onto ramp to go 29N towards Auburn 
  • Turn Left onto 29N for about .3 miles 
  • Turn Left onto large dirt road which is Macon County Road 54 (Also known as Vaughn's Mill Road) Take it about .5 miles until you come to a metal gate on your left 
  • Turn left through the gate and you will run into "Big Pond" 

COMING FROM ATLANTA 

  • Take 85S towards Montgomery for about 145 miles 
  • Take Exit 51 29S/AL-147 toward Auburn 
  • Turn Left 29S for about 3 miles 
  • Turn Right onto large dirt road which is Macon County Road 54 (Also known as Vaughn's Mill Road) Take it about .5 miles until you come to a metal gate on your left 
  • Turn left through the gate and you will run into "Big Pond"
