Know current trail conditions. Construction is ongoing seasonally.  Some trails may be under construction so plan ahead. 

Whenever possible, travel into the forest with someone else

Make a plan and communicate it to someone else

Do not take unnecessary risks. Remote environments provide an opportunity for isolation and personal discovery.  However, rescue is not quickly available in remote settings.  Take calculated risks commensurate with your ability to be rescued or perform self rescue.
