Fen monitoring on National Forest lands in California is designed to assist in the management and restoration of fen wetland ecosystems. We highlight monitoring work on the Plumas National forest and Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.
Plumas National Forest
The Plumas National Forest is currently conducting a number of fen-monitoring efforts monitoring fenced sites, pre- and post-grazing monitoring, and Proper Functioning Condition (PFC) monitoring.

Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit
Fens were monitored to determine the status of the rare moss, Meesia, populations in the Angora Fen on the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit from sod collection and wildland fire. No impacts were detected from sod harvest or the Angora wildfire.
