Timber Sales
The Forest Service actively manages timber sales on the Olympic National Forest to promote forest health, mitigate wildfire risks, and drive local economic growth. Timber harvested through sustainable operations creates lumber for construction, mass timber building materials, and smaller-diameter wood branches and debris utilized as green biomass energy.
Many of these sales include stewardship contracts or timber receipts, ensuring that a portion of the proceeds is reinvested into stream restoration, wildlife habitat enhancement, and maintaining resilient forest ecosystems. Timber sales are conducted through competitive bidding processes. These activities foster job creation in industries such as logging, transportation, and processing in local mills.
