Permits

The Forest Service uses a permitting process to manage uses of public land and resources in a way that supports national policy and complies with federal law.

Special Forest Products

Special Forest Product Permits allow the commercial or personal harvesting of non-timber forest products including foods such as plants, wild edible mushrooms, medicinal plants and fungi; floral greenery and horticultural stock; fiber, extracts from plants, lichens, and fungi; as well as firewood.

Special Use Permits

A Special Use Permit grants certain rights or privileges to occupy and use a specific area on National Forest land. Special uses can include recreation residences, events, outfitters/guides, utility lines, communication facilities and more.
